WHO BE SHE?

...OR JUMP RIGHT INTO THE MIDDLE OF MY THOUGHTS...
WHERE FACT & FICTION VIE FOR MY ATTENTION CONSTANTLY
As my British born-and-raised mom used to say: "She is the cat's Mother!" It's not meant to be taken literally, of course, but if one were to break the rules (and I love doing that, epecially with the language) there's a case to be made, in my case - as I do have a cat. And while I did not give birth to her - what?!! - I am indeed her mother. Her name is River and she is a most magical cat who narrowly escaped death in a spectacular rescue from - of all places - an animal shelter. But that is another story, which will soon be in written form.
Meanwhile, on to me...
My birth name is Anna Maria but I go by Mia (read more at my BLOG in the article How to Nick Your Name) and I was born in Newfoundland, on a diet of fresh fish, farmer's milk, mysterious evergreen trees, blueberry buckle and lots of fairy stories. While I received other nourishment, these were among my most favorite things.
WHAT IS SHE TALKING ABOUT?
ONE OF THE TRULY GREAT PERKS IN BEING A WRITER is that you don't have to be making obvious sense all the time - as long as you're saying something interesting that holds people's attention. And if you're still reading this - ha! - I've made my point nicely. A poetic writer has the divine licence to make up words, use small caps everywhere, write backwards - EKIL SIHT - and, in general, wreak havoc on the English language while winning awards doing so. (For a list of famous writers who've gotten away with grammatical murder, check out Greene Words' blog).
So, then, what do you know about me, after all this? I'd say a lot more than if you just read my regular bio - but if you really want to know how many degrees I have and whatnot, my Brief Bio will give give you that. However, it won't say what happened to River or How I Got the Name MIA or why I still believe I might have been Stolen By the Fairies when I was two (which leads to an obvious philosophical question: If the real A.M. Greene was "taken," then who be she that is writing this now?). Nor would it tell you How to Build a Bough-House at any age, for it is my firm believe that, if we are to truly grow up, regular trips back to childhood are essential. Maybe one day, when Quantum Physics rules, there'll be Frequent Flyers Miles for that too. Until then, fasten your seat belts, baby, 'cause you're in for one astronomical ride.
